French Louis XVI style Tall Cabinet (a six-drawer Semainier) of quarter-sawn Rosewood (Palisander) in a striking quartered marquetry pattern, with Tamo Ash, with Holly and Mahogany diagonal string inlays around the borders, with carved and gilt swag moldings, carved bullet moldings with gilt carved anthemion insets, bronze ormolu trim. The concave Cabinet door conceals six hand-dovetailed mahogany pull-out clothing drawers. A very fine custom made cabinet, for a client with refined tastes. Would function well for lingerie, has numerous drawers with low fronts, for visibility of contents. Circa 1920's. It had one owner, that we were proud to call a client for over 50 years.
