Portuguese Renaissance Period Carved Walnut Hutch with Carved Cornice over Flanking Ship's Wheels and Sunflowers, carved throughout all front panels and moldings, various floral carved motifs. Raised Side Panels. Dates from 17th century. High quality piece made by provincial cabinetmaker during Portugal's historical peak importance. Perhaps commissioned by ship captain or investor, with Compass and Ship's Wheel motifs? Piece has great character and presence.
