Company Overview

OLEK, Inc., is a leader in historic restoration, fabrication, and preservation of architectural woodwork, ornamental metal, windows and monumental doors, stained glass, decorative finishes, and both antique and mid-century modern furniture conservation. We work using both conventional and non-invasive methods, and we also create custom craftworks.

Specializing in landmark building restoration, Olek is committed to preserving historically significant structures and their components for future generations. Our expertise spans high-profile government buildings, museums, transportation hubs, religious institutions, colleges, and landmark commercial properties — all in full compliance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Historic Preservation.

Our team consists of master craftsmen with decades of experience, many of whom have been with Olek for years. Projects are completed on-site or at our fully equipped 20,000 sq. ft. facility in Orange, NJ. Our shop includes dedicated areas for metalwork, woodworking, casting, metal machining, welding, blacksmithing, stained glass, antique furniture restoration, and decorative finishing. But our greatest asset is our people — the best in the trade across every discipline.

Olek handles projects of all sizes, primarily across the East Coast and as far west as the Missouri River — and beyond. Founded in 1950 and incorporated in 2005, Olek currently employs more than 25 full-time craftsmen. We are licensed in multiple states and secure additional licensing as needed. Olek, Inc. is proud to be HUBZone Certified.

Company History

Olek was founded in 1950 by Olek Lejbzon, a Polish concentration camp survivor. Since 1987, the company has been led by Peter Triestman, the son of Olek’s partner. Peter is a 1979 Yale graduate and member of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC) since 1993.

In its early years, Olek focused primarily on antique and mid-century modern furniture conservation, restoration, and reupholstery. Under Peter Triestman’s leadership, the company expanded into public works projects, restoring and conserving elements of iconic buildings such as Grand Central Terminal, the New Jersey State Capitol, the Missouri State Capitol, the Nashville War Memorial Building, Yale’s Beinecke Rare Book Library, the United Nations General Assembly Building, as well as numerous courthouses and landmark structures.

Olek is now poised for continued growth, working extensively beyond the New York metropolitan area, with a strategic focus on expanding operations across the Southern United States.
