Gothic cabinet

Conservation of 15th or 16th century cabinet, inlaying or replacing missing elements, rebuilding joinery, and touching-up & waxing finish.

Walnut cabinet was unstable, with broken legs, removal of added stretcher, missing part of top, extensive powder-post beetle infestation losses. Anaerobic fumigation in carbon dioxide undertaken to destroy powder post beetles and their eggs.

Touchup and waxing of inlays makes them difficult to see repairs by casual observation.
