First Church of Christ Scientist, NYC

Restoration of doors included removing 100-yr. old doors, repairing their joinery and veneers, refinishing, hardware restoration and reinstallation.

 

 
 
 
Door interiors had deteriorated shellac finish.

Consolidated finish with alcohol and French polish.

 
 
All hardware had dark brown-green patination and required restoration of internal mechanisms. Polished bronze.
  Original chestnut & walnut doors had been abused by previous restorations, with dozen of nails driven through the faces of panels to secure exterior veneers, doors required joinery rebuilding and refinishing
