Vitra Eames Lounge Repair

Eames Lounge Repair

Eames Lounge Chairs suffer sooner or later from a design problem, which can easily cause a critical break in the back. The back is attached to the seat with four rubber/steel pads called shock mounts, attaching the seat to the back. The essence of the problem is that glue does not bond metal or rubber well to wood, for very long. Often the back shell fractures when a shock mount breaks, requiring intensive efforts by our European craftsmen to rebuild the plywood from the inside out, saving the outer layer of the veneer, saving the original flitch veneer pattern of the chair. Our proprietary solution to the shock mount defect is warrantied for 15 years, and is the only company to include warranty against breakage of the back shell..... Continue

Modern Furniture Reupholstery

Modern Furniture Reupholstery

Our meticulous craftsmen reupholster furniture as originally designed,  often with hand-sewn leather or fabric seams. We replace original hard to get materials matching originals, including rubber webbing for chair bottoms, natural latex rubber used in the 1950's, and smooth, glossy full grain aniline-dyed leather popular in the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's.  Another Olek specialty is custom finishing of new leather to match  Art Deco Period leather. Olek furnishes new unfinished leather, and then dyes, stains, distresses and finishes the new  leather to match leather found on circa 1920's Art Deco furniture. We can also recover modern furniture with pristine unused vintage fabrics for truly one-of-a-kind unique pieces, that are not available anywhere else, using  "dead-stock" '60's-'70's Danish and German inventories of fabrics...................... Modern Furniture Refinishing
